Greenway

Monday August 18 it’s not a bad weather day and we move on to see the old abandoned marina, in Greenway Sound. We had dined there in its hay day. It is now in sad disrepair but yachts still will come to celebrate being together here. At one time this was the destination resort on the coast with fine dining, daily seaplane flights from all destinations including Seattle. As time goes by an end to all good things must inevitably take place.

Greenway Twisted Docks
A case in point is Pen and I take the little girl for walk on the trail up towards the famous lake in Greenway sound (this site is cared by the Federal Government Forestry Dept., which has a dingy dock). There is a huge old steam donkey lost in time in the over grown forest. It boiler and stack lays detached and the winch lays scavenged of parts. This was a once a huffing and puffing monster that spewed black smoke stories into the sky. It belched forth fireflies of sparks into the mist of the Northern sky that looked to split the heavens open. It had the power to skid logs through forest that were 10 ft. through the butt, thirty feet or longer. The machine was so strong that it would take boulders, stumps and move them around like a boy child playing in a sand box moving stuff about with his toy TONKA TRUCK.
Now this rusting hulk is a reminder to me that with all the will, strength, power and beauty our creations in time will pass, and we will be like this silent ineffectual rusted beast.
