Monday August 18, 2014 Continued

OUR LEGACY will be like this magnificent machine, as there would have been no wood hauled from the forest to build empires, stately homes, bridges and supplied the fuel for are country’s industries.

Oceanaire at the Bitter end of Greenway

I visit are new friends that we met in Napier Bay.  Now they are tied just down the decrepit old dock and I pick my way along between broken and rotten planks to visit. Their boat is like a French cottage inside all painted a warm cream colour. A large oil stove warms the saloon, pilot house and berths below. This is perfect cruising yacht, not elegant on the outside but highly practical and nothing but nothing that does not add to the ambience and practicability of the interior appear anywhere. IT IS JUST so COSY.

They had boat designed by a marine architect based on the famous world cruising sailboat SPRAY. They did most of the work themselves and the project took ten years.  It is ballasted like a sailboat, carries 1000 gals of diesel fuel and is a passage maker. Health cut short the dream but they continue to dream. The boat is worthy of the dream.  Speaking of dreams I am off to my berth.
